The Health Benefits of Sea Sulfate

Sea salt is one of the oldest forms of salt used by man. The salts are obtained through different methods, the most common of which is boiling. Dead Sea salt is mineral salts extracted from a salt water lake found between Israel, Jordan and Palestine. They are considerably different form normal table salt and sea salt in that they possess an off white color and contain significantly less sodium than regular table salt. They are also very high in potassium and magnesium, to give them their name. Sea salt has been a popular alternative to table salt for many years.

There are several unique characteristics of Dead Sea salt, which make it an excellent alternative to ordinary table salt. One of these is its content of potassium and magnesium. As we know, these two substances are beneficial to the body because they help to enhance the blood circulation, keep the skin healthy and to function normally. As we stated previously, sea salt contains much less sodium chloride than does normal table salt, and this is why it is beneficial to the skin.

The potassium and magnesium found in sea salts help to balance the pH levels in the body and regulate gastrointestinal tract functions. This in turn, prevents the onset of gastric problems such as irritable bowel syndrome. The trace minerals which are contained in sea salts help to build strong bones and teeth, strengthen the immune system and improve concentration. It is well documented that the deficiency of certain trace minerals in people can lead to weak immune systems, which can lead to a number of illnesses. These include allergies, cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes and other illnesses.

While using sea salts on a regular basis is not necessary to obtain all of these health benefits, they are certainly beneficial in their own right. Many people who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, constipation, bloating or diarrhea benefit from salt baths to ease the symptoms. Many sea salt baths are available at salons, day spas or health stores. Most are very affordable, especially compared with a visit to the doctor. To improve skin tone and appearance, use sea salt baths twice or three times a week to moisturize dry, damaged and dull skin.

Salt is evaporated from seawater into salt produced by a process called evaporation. There are three different types of salt produced through evaporation: rock salt, dolomite salt and marine sulfate salt. Rock salt is the most commonly used salt for table salt, but dolomite and marine sulfate are also beneficial. All three have their own specific qualities, and each comes from seawater, which has its own properties and characteristics.

Evaporated sea salt contains traces of magnesium, calcium and potassium. Salt produced from seawater containing magnesium and calcium can help improve the strength of bones and joint tissue. Sea salt contains trace amounts of sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and carbonate. These minerals add to the overall benefits of the salt. Salt from fossilized seawater contains no sodium chloride.

Natural healing is enhanced when sea salts are used for skin care. The skin pores benefit from salts because they reduce dryness, and they stimulate healing. Seawater has high levels of magnesium and calcium, which make it an excellent medium for a natural healing treatment. Seawater is also rich in “good” bacteria that help fight off viruses and replenish lost nutrients. In addition to skin care and body cleansing, high levels of these “good” bacteria and “natural healing” agents may also prevent illness and promote immune system function.

Essential oils produced from sea salts contain medicinal and aroma chemicals that can be absorbed directly into the skin. Essential oils are concentrated plant fragrances that are extracted from plants. Aromatic essential oils include flowery, herbal and spicy aromas, and they combine well with other natural healing elements like sea salt, aloe vera and vitamin E. These natural compounds are very beneficial for dry skin. Massaged into the skin, they provide a smooth softening texture and an intense cooling sensation. For deep cleansing, they can be combined with other substances like glycolic acid and lemon juice to achieve a deeper cleansing.
